The Dance Academy is a unique hybrid learning experience for the fall 2020 semester. All hybrid dance classes will be working towards pieces that will be performed in our end of semester dance showcase. For more information about hybrid learning and our final dance showcase please visit our dance department page.
Dance Academy students will have two in person classes per week. These classes will take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Weekly in person classes will include a Dynamic Technique and Choreography class on Mondays and a Ballet class on Wednesdays. Dynamic Technique and Choreography will focus on jumps, leaps, turns, conditioning, flexibility and artistic expression through combinations in different dance styles. Ballet will focus on developing technique, muscle articulation, stength, endurace, proper alignment, and artistry.
Dance Academy students will also recieve five (5) half hour private lessons throughtout the session. These lessons will be scheduled at a time that works for both the student and the instructor. These lessons will focus on learning solo choreography to be performed in our virtual dance showcase.
In addition to their weekly in person classes students will also recieve a one hour virtual class per week. This class can be taken any time during the week. This class will have a different focus each week to ensure our dancers well rounded education.
Students enrolled in the dance academy will also learn and perform one group piece in our virtual dance showcase.
Wondering why you don't see a registration fee? CAS has waived the typical $25 registration fee for all programs for the 2020-2021 academic year to make our programs more affordable during this difficult time.
