Dalcroze Eurhythmics for Youth Orchestra
Dalcroze Eurhythmics is an exciting and joyful form of music education. Dalcroze classes offer a hands-on approach to music theory in which students explore musical concepts such as meter, tempo, phrase, form and dynamics through rhythm games, purposeful movement, songs, ear training, sight-singing and improvisation. The playful atmosphere in classes promotes coordination, balance, movement vocabulary and active listening as well as independent and cooperative learning.
Émile Jaques-Dalcroze was a Swiss pianist and educator and founded his pedagogical concepts in the early twentieth century, which makes Dalcroze Education one of the oldest music education methods in modern history!
This program is designed for students ages 9-14 currently enrolled in youth orchestra programs at the BW Community Arts School who wish to further their musical development and knowledge of music theory.
