The Conservatory Summer Institute is a 7-day intensive residential high school music camp for students seeking a rigorous musical summer experience. Led by Baldwin Wallace University faculty, students spend their day in classes, coaching sessions, and private lessons growing in their development as musicians.

Please note that all residential students participating in BW Summer Arts Programs are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Please review our full safety protocols for more information.

Enhance Your Experience

Customize your experience by choosing an optional program enhancement.

Institute Emphasis Programs

Students may choose to add an Institute Emphasis, designed to allow more focused study in an area of interest. Only one Institute Emphasis may be added to the core curriculum. 

Application and Audition

The deadline to apply, including the required audition recording, is Sunday, May 1, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. 

Participation in Conservatory Summer Intensive is highly selective. In order to be considered, applicants must submit: 

  • A completed application 
  • A recorded video audition 
  • $25 non-refundable audition fee
  • $100 tuition deposit (refundable if student is not offered admission to the program)  

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance decision no later than May 16, 2022. 

NOTE: completed video recordings are not required at the time of application submission. You may submit your video audition links any time before May 1, 2022. Applications without video submissions will be considered incomplete after May 1, 2022.

Tuition

We make every effort to ensure the Institute experience is affordable for all participants. Tuition may be split into monthly, automatic installments and paid over time, leading up until the program. Customized payment plans are available.

Base Tuition

  • Base tuition: $875.00/participant and includes all meals and housing.
    Your $100 tuition deposit will be applied toward the total amount. Students not admitted into CSI will be refunded this deposit.

Optional Program Enhancements

  • Institute Emphasis (Composition or Music Theatre): $175.00/participant
  • Audition Preparation Program: $175.00/participant

Through generous support from the Nord Family Foundation and Nordson Corporation Foundation, limited tuition assistance opportunities are available to Lorain County residents for Conservatory Summer Institute. To apply, students should complete the online registration and indicate they are interested in tuition assistance. Students will be notified of their award on a rolling basis beginning in March, 2022.
