The Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace University has a long history of bringing middle school students to campus for focused music study through workshops and camps. Caring staff, a safe campus, outstanding music facilities and excellent food service combine to make each camper's experience a positive one.
Our long-standing String Camp has been converted to a week-long day camp! This Monday through Friday camp is designed for string players in grades 4-9 who have at least nine months of playing experience. Through small groups (pods), students and their peers will receive personalized musical training along with engaging social activities.
Due to smaller group sizes and facility restrictions, capacity is limited to 96 students. Registration is first-come, first-served.
A Typical Day at String Camp
We keep campers busy throughout the day! While the daily schedule focuses on the development of a student’s musical skillset, it is also well-balanced with fun social activities!
After drop-off between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., the day begins! Every schedule will be different, but a typical day might look like this:
- Homeroom activity
- Chamber group rehearsal
- Sectionals/Guided Practice/Special Session
- Homeroom activity
Pick-up takes place between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. If a student is not picked up by 4:30 p.m., they will be transferred to After Camp Care where a fee will apply.
After Camp Care runs from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. If you know your child will need After Camp Care, you can add that to your registration. This service is also available to all campers on an as-needed basis with a call to our camp office. Visit our After Camp Care page for more information.
Pod Placement Recording
In order to pre-assign pods and select appropriate repertoire for each group, students are required to submit a one-minute recording of a piece, excerpt, etude, or exercise that they have studied and/or performed. More details can be found on our Pod Placement Recording page.
Fees include a $25 non-refundable deposit that must accompany the application for registration.
We make every effort to keep camp as affordable as possible. Most expenses are covered and include a t-shirt, bag, 2 cloth masks, personal camp materials, lunch and the final pod recordings.
After Camp Care is an additional fee. Visit our After Camp Care page for more information.
Registration deadline: Monday, May 3rd
