High School Offerings

Instruction at the high school level allows students to dive deeper into their art forms and focus on their personal goals. This is a critical time in students' artistic development as they consider their involvement in the arts beyond their high school years. Whether students are preparing for college involvement in the arts or simply want to enjoy participating in classes or ensembles for personal growth and enjoyment, CAS offers high-quality instruction that will exceed your expectations.

At the high school level, all participants can choose a personal enrichment path or to audition for our Baldwin Wallace Community Arts School Dance Company.

The BW CAS dance program trains dancers to have solid technical foundations, a passion for the arts, positive self-expression and confidence. Our professional approach ensures each student receives comprehensive dance training in an environment that supports personal achievement, discipline, friendship, teamwork, positive attitudes, creativity, kindness and respect. Curriculum is designed to train all ages, skill and confidence levels to achieve their greatest potential whether their goals are professional or personal growth. Programming includes classes in the areas of ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap, acro, and hip hop for ages 2-21, beginner through pre-professional levels.

Instrumental Music

Creating a solid musical foundation for students to succeed through instrumental education is something we take seriously. Whether it be through private instruction, through a group class / ensemble or in a CAS Youth Orchestra (grades 4-12), students in high school can hone their skills and abilities while also developing habits of quality and appropriate practice. Our faculty use a wide-variety of teaching techniques and tools to meet the needs of every individual early learner. In addition, students can take advantage of one of our many audition preparation programs during the summer months if they are considering studying music in college.

Vocal Music

Students high school age through adult can participate in our two community-based choral ensembles. Each ensemble offers a unique and supportive culture with ample opportunities to perform throughout the year. Both ensembles partner with professional artists and often engage world-class clinicians during rehearsals and workshops.

Students build on the fundamentals of being on stage. With an in-depth look at the intricacies of acting, ensemble work, text exploration, monologue work and other acting tools, students learn how to bring a story to life. These classes are designed for students who want to take a more dedicated approach to their theatre studies.

Visual Art

Visual art classes and instruction at BW’s Community Art School provide challenging courses and a creative outlet for students of all experience levels. Refine your skills as an artist, or discover a completely new art form as a beginner to expand your skills. As an extension of Baldwin Wallace University, courses leverage resources and expertise of the University to provide the community with a high-level of instruction.
